Are you struggling to start your sustainable journey?
Here are some tips for your gain.
1.Start thinking mindfully of what you use & how you use it.
Although many will start to think about recycling when it comes to sustainability, it all comes down to whether or not our wastes are really being recycled. That is a different topic on it’s own.
Lets face the fact that, not all materials can be recycled. And even if it is being recycled, how much can one guarantee its sanitation level.
So perhaps for a start, one could plan on what they need first and think about the aftermath of this product after consumption.
2. Do your research!
Doing research is like turning on the light. Being educated in something that you are passionate about will make your life so much easier. It reduces the amount of mistakes you make and you have a better idea of being efficient with time and money.
3. Think of different products you could start switching for something that is more Eco-conscious!
Unlike other resolutions, you do not have to dream big or aim high. You can start by replacing one item at a time instead. It’s better to find the small switches, some of my friends buys organic and composable tea bags, or a reusable cup for their daily dose of caffeine. Others use organic cleaners in their household instead of the devil itself: bleach. Choose items that will be easy to switch to and that you can uphold yourself to continue and make that your new routine.
4. Surround yourself with like minded people & influence.
In this era, we are gifted with social media and advanced technology. Now that you are switching over to a more sustainable lifestyle and you are educated, you can find people that are similar to you. One of the cool things about owning such a popular Instagram page is talking to like minded people all the time!
It’s amazing to see that everyone, anywhere on the planet, is also fighting the same fight.
5. Use Less. Always use Less.
Allow yourself to use lesser of the environmentally negative impacting products. Ex. Plastic Bags, Disposable Cutleries, Tissue Papers, Plastic Straws and more. The peak usage is during the festive times, thus plan ahead of time in what you really need and use and substitute to natural materials accordingly.
